Chocolate Sorbet
Sorbet has the same consistency as ice cream but without the fat and is so much easier to make than chocolate ice cream.
This recipe for chocolate sorbet is the perfect low fat dessert for any occasion.
I would recommend using a really good dark chocolate and cocoa powder for this sorbet so that the flavours stand out and you get a good strong chocolate taste.

Make in advance, this chocolate Sorbet needs to be chilled overnight
Ingredients for Chocolate Sorbet
- 200g/ 8oz caster sugar
- 50g/ 2oz good quality cocoa powder
- 50g/ 2oz good quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to make Chocolate Sorbet
Bring 600ml water to the boil in a saucepan
Sift the cocoa powder into the sugar and stir well
Whisk the cocoa powder and sugar into the hot water and gently simmer
Leave to simmer for 5 minutes whisking occasionally
Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate and vanilla until the chocolate has melted
Cool the mixture and then place in the fridge overnight
Make the sorbet in an ice cream maker or place in a plastic bowl and freeze until the mixture is 3 cm from the edges
Whisk to break down any ice crystals
Freeze again for another hour
Whisk and freeze again for 1 hour
Leave until completely frozen
30 minutes before serving remove from the freezer and place in the fridge so that the Sorbet is easier to scoop out
