Chocolate Rum Truffles are the ideal way to round up a dinner just pop a few on a plate when serving coffee.
For a great gift idea place the truffles into petit four cases and put into a decorative gift box and you have a perfect homemade gift.
Ingredients for Chocolate Rum Truffle Recipe
- 100g/4oz plain/dark chocolate
- 50g/2oz butter
- 1 tablespoon rum
- Yolks of 2 eggs
- 25g/1oz ground almonds
- 25g/1oz stale cake crumbs
- 225g/8oz sifted icing sugar
- Drinking chocolate
How to make Chocolate Truffles
Place the broken chocolate with the butter into a bowl over a saucepan of hot water.
Leave until both have melted, stirring occasionally.
Add the rum and egg yolks and mix well.
Stir in the remaining ingredients except the drinking chocolate.
Pour onto a plate and leave mixture to cool until it goes firm, this should take approx 1 – 1 ½ hours.
Roll cooled mixture into equal amounts, you should get about 36 truffles depending on the size you want them.
Toss into drinking chocolate.
Place into paper sweet cases or petit four cases, these can usually be found in supermarkets.
