Recipe For Chocolate Orange Truffles
These Truffles have a lovely orange flavour; you could experiment with lemons or limes for a change and see which ones you like best.
Ingredients for Chocolate Orange Truffle
- 100g/4oz plain/dark chocolate
- 50g/2oz butter
- Finely grated rind of 1 small orange
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- Yolks of 2 eggs
- 25g/1oz ground almonds
- 25g/1oz stale cake crumbs
- 225g/8oz sifted icing sugar
- Drinking chocolate
How to make Chocolate Orange Truffle
Break the chocolate and place into a bowl along with the butter.
Place bowl into saucepan of hot water.
Leave until the butter and chocolate have melted, stirring occasionally.
Add the egg yolks and mix well.
Stir in the rest of the ingredients.
Pour mixture onto a plate and leave to cool and go firm, this usually takes between 1-1 ½ hours.
Roll into equal amounts, you can get about 36 truffles depending on the size you want them.
Roll truffles in the drinking chocolate.
Place truffles into paper sweet cases or petit four cases, these can be found at your local supermarket.
Safe to freeze keeps 1-2 months.
