Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti
I love Biscotti and these Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti are great for dunking into coffee.
They can also be served on the side of another chocolate dessert as an accompaniment and at only 84 calories per biscuit they are just the perfect treat any time of the day.

I like to serve these Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti on the side of Chocolate Cardamom Pots as an amazing dessert for a dinner party.
Nice and low-fat too!
Ingredients for Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti
- 2 medium eggs
- 100g/ 4oz caster sugar
- 250g/ 10oz plain flour and a little extra for dusting
- ½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- Zest of 1 orange
- 25g/ 1oz toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
- 25g/ 1oz chocolate chips
How to make Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/350°F, gas mark 4
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
Whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy
Sift the flour and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl
Add the orange zest, hazelnuts and chocolate chips
Fold into the egg mix to make soft dough
Tip onto a lightly floured board
Shape into a 25 cm sausage shape
Transfer to the baking tray
Flatten to a 3cm thickness
Bake for 30 minutes until lightly browned
Remove from oven and slide onto a chopping board
Reduce the heat to 160°C/325°F, gas mark 3
Cut the log into 1 cm thick slices and return to baking tray cut sides up
Bake for 10 – 15 minutes until crisp
Cool on a wire rack
These Biscotti will keep in an airtight tin for 3 weeks
