Chocolate and Banana Gratin
Good News! Eating healthily doesn’t have to be boring it can be full of delicious and exciting ingredients as this low in cholesterol Chocolate and Banana Gratin proves. It is full of scrumptious Bananas which will fill you full of energy without leaving you feeling bloated and stodgy. It is quick to make and as it is low in cholesteral you can eat it and still be healthy.
Ingredients for Chocolate and Banana Gratin
- 3 large egg yolks
- 100ml condensed milk
- 100ml skimmed milk
- 3 tablespoons chocolate milkshake flavouring
- 1 large banana
- 4 teaspoons caster sugar
How to make a Chocolate and Banana Gratin
Preheat the oven to 150°/300°F, gas mark 2
Whisk the egg yolks with both the condensed milk and the skimmed milk and chocolate flavouring until creamy
Strain through a fine sieve into a bowl
Divide the mixture into 4 small ramekins
Place in a deep roasting tin then fill with hot water until the water reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins
Cook in the oven for 45-50 minutes
Remove from the oven and allow to cool
If you wish you can keep the custards in the fridge until they are needed
To serve peel the banana and cut into thick slices
Arrange the slices on top of the custards so that they overlap
Sprinkle the caster sugar evenly over the bananas
Place under a preheated grill until golden and caramelised or if you have a kitchen blowtorch you can use this
Allow to cool slightly before serving as the caramel can get very hot and may burn.
